Welcome to our little world!

Welcome to our new blog friends! Here are some of our students of the 6th year group. This school year, we are going to get in touch with other cultures of the world, and learn about different lifestyles, languages, etc. Our students have changed their names for this school year, 2012-3. Below, you can check out the origin, the meaning and other information about these new names.




















Aroha: It is a Maori (New Zeland) name for women. It means "love, compassion, pity, and poorness". Aroha is a person who is kind and generous with the others.
Suong: It is a Vietnamese name for women meaning fog. The fog is a collection of liquid water or ice crystals suspended in the air near the Earth's surface. It is a low-lying cloud ("behelainoa").
Naidu: In the Sanskrit language, Naidu is the leader of the group. Sanskrit is a very old, archaic language of India, continues to be widely used as a ceremonial language in Hindu religious rituals and Buddhist practice in the forms of mantras. Spoken Sanskrit is still in use in a few traditional institutions in India and there are many attempts at revival.
Chim: It is also a Vietnamese name for boys. It means "Bird", a little vertrebrated animal who has wings and beak. Its reproduction is through eggs.
Sauri: A hindu name for the male and the meaning of Sauri is : Son of the Sun.

Amahau:This name is a Maori name for baby boys. In Maori, the meaning of the name Amahau is "to gather" (bildu). People with this name tend to be romantic and humanitary.
Krishna: It is a Sanscrit word. Its adjective means "black" or "dark". Sanscrit is one of the oldest languages of the world, very archaic, spoken in India and also used for the buddhyst mantras.
Amaroo: It is a suburb in Canberra, the australian district Gungahilin. Amaroo, which means "beautiful place" in one of the local aboriginal dialects, gives name to australian rivers and lakes.
Leilani: It is an active volcano in Hawaii. It is also a hawaiian name for women meaning "Girl from the Sky".
Quetzaly: It is a sacred and magnificent bird found in america. It is very colourful. Quetzaly is also an aztec name for girls, meaning, Quetzal (previously mentioned bird)






















Antara: Australian aborigene name for women. It means pan flute or pipe. It is an ancient musical instrument.It's been long popular as a folk instrument, and is considered thte first mouth organ, ancestor of both the pipe organ and the harmonica.The God Pan played music on his pipes that many people has been said to be intimidated by its irregular tunes.
Mandira: It is an Indian Temple. Even our souls get totally absorved in the divine ambience of the Mandiras, editing our thoughts and mind, they elevate our spirits. They are located in key geographycal points such as hill tops, caves, rivers, mountains and springs. It is also a female name.
Nuna: In Quechua, Nuna means soul. Quechuas are South American Indians, they are the largest groups of indians of the World. Although they've spread to other places, they where originally located around Amazonas.
Adoni: It is the name that the Australian Aborigens give to the sunrise.
Huitzilopochtli: It is an aztec God. Its name in the aztec language means hummingbird.
Killari: It is a Quechua (South American indians) name for women. It means "Light of the Moon". "Killa" means moon, and "ri" means light.
Kawai: It is a very common Hawaiian name for men. It means lovable or adorable.
Leilani: It is a Hawaiian name. The meaning of Leilani is : Girl from the sky. This name is very popular in Hawaii.
Akasha: It is a Sanscrit name (Sanscrit: old hindu language). It means sky and open space.
Sauri: A hindu name for the male and the meaning of Sauri is : Son of the Sun.

Miki: In the australian aborigen language means the moon, for them it is masculine. It may also have a Japanese origin that means: Three trees together. Another way: Mikki.
Katari:It is the name used by Julian Apassa. He was a leader in the revelion of indigenous people of Bolivia against spanish empire in the early 1780s. He raised an army of some 40.000 people and laid siege to the city of La Paz in 1781.
